CPSC Warns Consumers to Stop Using GuardianSense and KLTseanife Combination Detectors Immediately: Two Reports of Alarms Failing in Smoke and Fire

Friday, October 30, 2026 · Life · GSM News

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is warning consumers to stop using GuardianSense and KLTseanife brand combination smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, model YHW-542COM-R, immediately. The detectors fail to alarm in the presence of hazardous smoke and fire, posing a risk of serious injury or death from smoke and fire hazards.

CPSC is aware of two reports of the alarms failing to alert in the presence of smoke or fire. The detectors are white plastic with a digital display, and the model number YHW-542COM-R and the manufacturer are listed on the back of the product.

The detectors were sold on Amazon.com and eBay.com from September 2025 through June 2026, in single units and multipacks, for between $18 and $168, and were manufactured in China. The manufacturer, ShenZhen YuFangWeiShi Technology Co LTD., and the seller, Shenzhen Lixiang Xiancai Co., Ltd., have both been unresponsive to CPSC's request to recall the detectors.

CPSC urges consumers to stop using the detectors immediately, dispose of them and install working smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors. The hazardous detectors should not be sold or given away.

CPSC also advises installing smoke alarms and CO detectors on each level of the home and outside separate sleeping areas, and buying only alarms that meet the UL 2034 and UL 217 safety standards. Consumers can check the model details in the CPSC warning notice.
