The Automobile Club of Southern California's Weekend Gas Watch, released as of 9 a.m. on October 29, put California's statewide average for a gallon of regular gasoline at $5.94, below $6 for the first time since mid-September and 14 cents lower than last week.

By metro area, Los Angeles–Long Beach averaged $6.01 (down 14 cents on the week), San Diego $6.03 (down 12 cents), the Santa Barbara area $6.04 (down 11 cents) and Bakersfield $6.10 (down 8 cents). Areas already below $6 include Riverside at $5.81, San Bernardino at $5.84, Orange County at $5.90 and Ventura at $5.95, each down 14 cents on the week. The national average stood at $4.22, five cents lower than last week. California's average remains $1.37 higher than a year ago.

Auto Club spokesperson Kandace Redd said California gas prices have dropped by more than 40 cents in the past month and that almost all Southern California metro averages could dip below $6 in coming days, while noting that worldwide oil prices have increased over the last two weeks on continued supply volatility, leaving it uncertain how long pump prices will keep falling.
