Colorado Open Enrollment Starts November 1: Rate Review Saved Consumers More Than $42 Million

The Colorado Division of Insurance issued a consumer advisory as open enrollment for 2027 individual-market health insurance — for people who do not get coverage through an employer or a government program such as Medicare or Medicaid — starts Sunday, November 1. Residents can shop, compare plans and check financial assistance through the state's marketplace, Connect for Health Colorado, using its Estimate & Explore Tool.
For Plan Year 2027, the Division of Insurance saved Colorado consumers $42,136,281 on premiums through the rate review process. People enrolled in Colorado Option plans pay $14 to $33 less each month in premiums and 15% less in out-of-pocket costs. Connect for Health Colorado estimates that 69% of customers are likely to qualify for financial help, and 60% of individual-market customers who qualify could find a plan for $10 or less per month by shopping and comparing.
"Health insurance is absolutely vital in keeping people and their families healthy," said Colorado Insurance Commissioner Michael Conway, who encouraged everyone to review available plans during open enrollment and sign up for 2027 coverage. Governor Jared Polis said Coloradans buying through the Colorado Option are saving hundreds of dollars and encouraged eligible residents to explore plans and see what they can save.
Colorado's open enrollment for 2027 runs through January 15, 2027; enrolling by December 15 secures coverage from January 1, 2027, while enrolling between December 16 and January 15 starts coverage on February 1, 2027. Residents can call Connect for Health Colorado at 855-752-6749 with questions.
