Lomita in Los Angeles County Sets Its Weekend Lineup: Slow-Streets Workshop and Free Hazardous-Waste Drop-Off on October 31, Library Vote Center Open

Friday, October 30, 2026 · California · GSM News

The City of Lomita, in Los Angeles County, California, released its weekend civic lineup on October 30: a concept-design workshop for its Local Travel Network (LTN) and a free household hazardous-waste and e-waste drop-off are both set for Saturday, October 31, and the city's library vote center is already open for early voting.

The LTN workshop runs from 10:00 a.m. to noon on October 31 at the Tom Rico Center at Lomita Park, 24428 Eshelman Ave. The LTN is designed to connect neighborhoods, parks, schools and downtown Lomita with safer, low-speed streets planned for all modes, including bikes, scooters and neighborhood electric vehicles; residents can view the proposed concept designs and learn what is planned for their neighborhood.

The free hazardous-waste and e-waste event runs the same day from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at A.K. Warren, 24501 S. Figueroa St in Carson, where residents can drop off unwanted household chemicals and electronics for proper disposal.

The city also reminded residents that a Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) survey on major proposed changes to Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) in Lomita closes on October 31: one proposed design would remove a lane of traffic on PCH in each direction between Narbonne Avenue and Walnut Street to add a protected bike lane, a proposal the City of Lomita opposes, and residents are urged to share their views before the survey closes. A city survey on a new recreation center is also open, and the Lomita Railroad Museum is hosting a family-friendly Halloween event, the Curse of the Red Caboose.
