Probation's Operation Silent Watch Makes Two Arrests in Unannounced Halloween-Week Home Visits

The San Diego County Probation Department, in California, reported on October 30 that its annual Operation Silent Watch carried out unannounced home visits on October 29, ahead of Halloween: two teams checked on 15 to 20 people on Formal Probation or Post-Release Community Supervision, and two people were arrested.
The visits covered the county's North, East and Central areas and focused on people who are barred from contact with minors and from displaying decorations, lights or candy at Halloween. Both people arrested were on Formal Probation: one was arrested for probation violations only, and the other for violations plus new child pornography charges. Both were booked into San Diego Central Jail.
The department said no Halloween-related contraband was found during the checks. The pre-holiday visits are an annual practice meant to confirm, before children head out trick-or-treating, that high-risk supervised people are complying with their conditions.
