Free Rides to the Polls on Election Day: Riverside Transit Agency Waives Fares for Voters

Voters in Riverside County, California, can ride free to the polls on Election Day, November 3: the Riverside Transit Agency (RTA) announced that passengers traveling to or from polling places on Election Day will ride free on its local buses, CommuterLink express buses, GoMicro microtransit and Dial-A-Ride paratransit services.
Boarding is simple: fixed-route riders tell the driver they are going to vote or have just voted, and ride free. Dial-A-Ride passengers should tell the operator when scheduling their trip by phone that they are traveling to or from the polls. RTA Director of Marketing Christine Ramsey confirmed the arrangement at a public meeting on October 28.
RTA said the promotion is meant to make voting more accessible for residents across western Riverside County by removing transportation as a barrier. The agency serves cities and communities across the western part of the county, and its Election Day services will run on regular schedules.
