National Parks Waive Entrance Fees for U.S. Citizens and Residents on Veterans Day, November 11

The National Park Service will waive entrance fees at all national parks on Veterans Day, November 11. Under the 2026 rules, free entrance applies to U.S. citizens and U.S. residents, who may be asked for identification; other fees — timed-entry reservations, camping and tours — still apply.
For Southern Californians the closest option is Joshua Tree National Park, which spans Riverside and San Bernardino counties in California, with Death Valley, Yosemite and Pinnacles also within weekend range. A fee-free day does not waive reservation requirements at parks that use them, so check each park's page before setting out.
Veterans Day is the final fee-free day of 2026. Mid-November brings some of Joshua Tree's best hiking and stargazing weather of the year.
Park-by-park details are at the National Park Service website.
