Milei Inaugurates Patagonia's Largest Auditorium: 4,000-Seat Church Hall Built with Congregation Donations

Argentine President Javier Milei on October 31 inaugurated the new auditorium of the evangelical church Jesús es Rey (Jesus Is King) in the city of Neuquén, capital of Neuquén Province in southern Argentina, and delivered a speech reaffirming that his government applies "morality as a policy of state," saying it takes measures "starting from what is just, not from what is politically convenient."
On arrival Milei was received by Neuquén Governor Rolando Figueroa and, at the auditorium, by pastors Hugo Márquez and Matías Riffo. Secretary General of the Presidency Karina Milei, Chamber of Deputies President Martín Menem and Senator Nadia Márquez also attended.
The new hall seats 4,000 people, is the largest auditorium in Patagonia, and was built with contributions from the families of the church community. In his speech Milei noted that the church has almost 90 years of history, runs a school with 1,700 students and a clinic with 30 specialties, saying: "Before this auditorium you had already done much for your neighbours, and you did it without waiting for anyone to ask you."
Milei defended fiscal balance as a banner of his government: "It is not just for the state to spend more than it collects and pass the bill to the next generations with debt, or to the most vulnerable with inflation." He also ratified his commitment to lower taxes as far as balanced public accounts allow, and criticised populist promises, saying traditional politicians promise easy solutions "precisely because they are popular, but a paradise from one day to the next does not exist, and that promise always ends up costing too much."
Referring to the upcoming visit of Pope Leo XIV to Argentina, Milei said: "We await him with open arms, delighted to be blessed by his presence," and said the visit would be an opportunity to reflect on the Judeo-Christian values that form the cultural matrix of the West.
Milei closed by evoking the parable of the two foundations, saying his government is laying "the bases for Argentina's golden century" and wants to build "a country founded on the rock of justice, responsibility and effort, which will withstand whatever storms come." The inauguration coincided with Argentina's National Day of Evangelical and Protestant Churches.
