Texans Quarterback Stroud Praises Hutchinson: the Overtime-Touchdown Receiver Will Carry a Bigger Load
Houston, Harris County, Texas: Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud praised young wide receiver Xavier Hutchinson in comments reported on October 31, after Hutchinson's first touchdown of the season sent a game into overtime.
Hutchinson caught only three passes in the Texans' overtime loss to the New York Giants, but one of them was the touchdown that forced overtime, his first score of the season. Through the season so far he has 21 receptions for 258 yards.
'I thought he played great. He did a great job even in special teams and he was making some big plays with the ball in his hands,' Stroud said. 'He's always reliable and a very dynamic playmaker and just really excited to get him some touches in the game.'
With Jaylin Noel expected to miss the rest of the season with a turf toe injury, Hutchinson will need to take on a larger role. The Texans, 2-4, next play at home on November 8 against the Los Angeles Chargers, the league's only winless team, in a game Houston needs to keep its season and playoff hopes alive.
