Phoenix Fire Department Rescues 6 From Flash Floods: Four Cars Trapped in Wash, No Injuries

Saturday, October 31, 2026 · Cities · GSM News

Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona — The Phoenix Fire Department rescued six people from flash flooding on the night of October 30, with video and details released on October 31. The National Weather Service said intense thunderstorms raced across the Phoenix and Scottsdale metro areas early Friday night, dropping more than an inch of rain in less than an hour and triggering flash flooding.

Video the fire department released on social media showed first responders pulling people from a car trapped in high water in the Camelback East Village area, near the Arizona Canal. The department said four cars were stuck in the wash in that area, but no one was injured. The same storm system also triggered flash flooding in southern Nevada.

Forecasters warned the flood threat would increase for central Arizona and the Four Corners through the weekend: a Level 2 out of 4 flash flood risk covered much of central Arizona on Saturday, October 31, and a flood watch remained in effect across most of the state through Tuesday, November 3. The fire department reminded the public not to drive onto flooded roadways.
