St. Augustine Routs Edna Karr 52-14, Ending the Cougars' 35-Game Run
In New Orleans, Orleans Parish, Louisiana, the No. 2-ranked St. Augustine Purple Knights routed the top-ranked Edna Karr Cougars 52-14 on Saturday night, October 31, at Tad Gormley Stadium, ending Karr's 35-game winning run. Both teams entered the game 8-0, and Karr had beaten St. Augustine twice last season.
Kickoff, set for 7 p.m., was delayed by lightning near the stadium until after 7:45 p.m. Karr struck first with a blocked-punt touchdown for an 8-0 lead, but St. Augustine answered behind quarterback Jaelle Noble, who threw three touchdown passes and ran for another score in the first half alone as the Purple Knights built a 33-8 halftime lead. The margin reached 52-8 in the second half before a late Karr touchdown set the final score at 52-14.
St. Augustine improved to 9-0, while Edna Karr fell to 8-1.
