Lightning GM Says No Intention of Trading Kucherov After Trade Request Reports

In Tampa, Hillsborough County, Florida, reports surfaced this week that Tampa Bay Lightning star Nikita Kucherov has informed both his teammates and the organization that he will not re-sign with Tampa Bay and would like to be traded. General manager Julien BriseBois responded in a statement on October 30, declaring that the Lightning unequivocally have no intention of trading Kucherov.
Kucherov, 33, is in the final season of an eight-year, $76 million contract and can become an unrestricted free agent after the season. He leads the Lightning with 18 points (four goals, 14 assists) this season. On October 31, he recorded three assists in a 5-4 shootout loss to the Nashville Predators.
Head coach Jon Cooper said before the game that Kucherov is 100 percent a part of the team this season. Linemate Brayden Point called the contract Kucherov's own business, while captain Victor Hedman said the day the news surfaced was a tough day for the team.
