LA VERNE — The City of La Verne, a city in Los Angeles County, California, has released the November 2026 edition of its City Manager's Newsletter. In his opening message, City Manager Ken Domer reminded residents that Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, and that eligible voters may cast a ballot in person, by mail, or at an official ballot drop box; the city's two in-person voting centers opened on October 31.

According to the newsletter, La Verne's two in-person voting centers are located at the University of La Verne (2000 2nd Street) and Lighthouse Baptist Church (2600 N White Avenue), open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. from October 31 through November 2 and 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day. The city's two official ballot drop boxes, at City Hall (3660 D Street) and Oak Mesa Park (5400 Wheeler Avenue), close at 8 p.m. on Election Day. Voting options and locations are summarized on the City of La Verne 2026 municipal election information page.

The newsletter also announced recruitment for the city's commissions: applications for several openings are due by 5 p.m. on Thursday, November 19, and may be submitted online, in person at City Hall, or by email to the City Clerk's Office.

November community events include a Veterans Day Ceremony at 11 a.m. on November 11 at Veterans Hall (1550 Bonita Avenue), hosted with VFW Post 12034; the La Verne Historical Society's Vintage Sale and Home Tour at 11 a.m. on November 14, with tours of Mills Act homes on Bonita Avenue starting from the Church of the Brethren (2425 E Street); and the Route 66 Centennial "Cruising La Verne" Holiday Car Show at 10 a.m. on November 21 in historic Old Town, held alongside the "CHiPs for Kids" toy drive, where attendees may donate a new, unwrapped toy valued at $10.

For the holiday season, Christmas tree sales return to Heritage Park from November 27 through December 20, hosted by the La Verne Heritage Foundation with Noble, Grand and Douglas firs from Oregon and Washington, open Fridays 4 to 9 p.m., Saturdays 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., plus $3 sleigh rides and a $3 petting farm. The second annual Lights & Sirens Toy Drive runs November 16 through December 16, organized by the La Verne Firefighters' Association, the La Verne Police Officers' Association and community partners, collecting new, unwrapped toys at city facilities and participating businesses; related events include a softball tournament on December 3 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Wheeler Park (1499 Palomares Ave) and "Stuff the Sirens" on December 5 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the La Verne Target store.

Senior programming includes the Golden Gala Senior Dinner Dance at 4 p.m. on November 8 at the Community Center, with $18 pre-paid registration and table selection at the Parks & Recreation Office (3660 D Street; (909) 596-8700), and a free Senior Movie Matinee screening of Father of the Bride Part II at 12:30 p.m. on November 9, with light refreshments and a raffle.

The newsletter also noted that the city's annual community and strategic planning survey is now open, with responses to inform future city priorities; the survey is available on the City of La Verne strategic planning survey page. California Assembly Bill 1572 will phase in limits on using drinking water to irrigate nonfunctional turf, applying first to public and government properties on January 1, 2027, and the city will begin turf removal projects on its own properties; the law does not generally apply to individual single-family residential yards. Ahead of storm season, the city urged residents to assemble emergency kits and clear gutters and drains, and said sandbags are available at the Public Safety Facility (2061 Third Street) and Fire Station 3 (5100 Esperanza Drive), limited to 10 per household or business.

The newsletter's "City in Numbers" section reported September service volumes: the Police Department received 1,837 calls for service and took 230 reports, with 33 traffic collisions and 89 homeless-related calls; the Fire Department received 400 calls, including 275 medical calls and 3 fire-related calls; and Parks & Recreation activities drew 4,563 participants.
