The City of Culver City, in Los Angeles County, California, issued a weekend weather update on October 31, saying it is closely monitoring conditions as rain is expected across the Los Angeles region this Halloween weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, moderate to locally heavy rainfall is possible on Saturday and Saturday night, when the greatest chance of rain is expected, with lingering rain possible on Sunday. The most likely regional rainfall totals are between 0.25 and 1 inch, although exact amounts remain uncertain. Potential impacts include slippery roads, longer travel times, and localized minor flooding of parking lots and roadways.

“The safety of Culver City residents and families is our highest priority, particularly as many prepare for Halloween activities this weekend,” said Mayor Freddy Puza. “We encourage everyone to stay alert, plan ahead, and take precautions when traveling or enjoying outdoor activities. Please sign up for CulverAlerts to receive important emergency notifications and stay informed about changing conditions.”

The City said it is coordinating across its Fire, Police, Public Works, and other departments to monitor conditions and prepare for potential impacts. “Our teams are closely monitoring the forecast and coordinating across departments to prepare for potential impacts,” said City Manager Odis Jones. “We encourage residents to exercise caution on roadways, avoid flooded areas, and follow guidance from public safety officials. Our priority is keeping residents informed and ensuring Culver City is prepared to respond as needed.”

Residents are advised to monitor National Weather Service forecasts and official City updates, allow extra travel time during Halloween activities, slow down on wet roads, avoid driving or walking through flooded roadways, and clear leaves and debris from private drainage areas where it is safe to do so. Sand and bags are available for residential use at Fire Station 1, located off Irving Place. For life-threatening emergencies, call 911.
