White House: Current Oil Price Spike Is Only Short-Term

Sunday, November 1, 2026 · White House · GSM News

White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said on Fox News' "Sunday Morning Futures" on November 1 that the recent spike in oil prices is only a short-term phenomenon and that the administration is focused on bringing prices back down.

"There will be a short-term, upward pressure on oil prices as a result of these attacks, but the administration is keenly focused on getting those prices back down," Leavitt said, referring to recent drone attacks on energy infrastructure in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, which Fox News described as carried out by Iran-backed forces.

U.S. crude oil futures settled Friday at $90.90 a barrel, according to Reuters. Fox News reported that President Trump is in talks with U.S. oil and gas executives on securing supply and stabilizing prices.
