County Urges Medi-Cal Members to Prepare for New Federal Requirements Taking Effect in 2027
San Bernardino County, in California, reminded residents in its October 29 county update that new federal requirements for Medi-Cal related to work, community engagement and coverage renewal will take effect in 2027, and encouraged members to prepare so their coverage is not interrupted.
The county said current coverage is not affected now, with more than a year before the rules begin. Preparation means keeping contact information and addresses current with the county, completing annual renewals on time, and watching for implementation details the county will publish.
San Bernardino County administers Medi-Cal eligibility and renewal help locally. Members with questions about their own cases should use official county Human Services channels, the county said, rather than paid third-party renewal services.
