Border Patrol Seizes 34 Pounds of Cocaine and Meth on Interstate 15 in San Diego County

U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Newton-Azrak Station seized more than 34 pounds of cocaine and methamphetamine during a routine vehicle stop on northbound Interstate 15 in San Diego County, California, on October 21. The stop unfolded when agents noticed several inconsistencies during questioning and inspected the vehicle.
The inspection revealed 144 bundled packages of cocaine weighing approximately 33.4 pounds, with an estimated value of $641,280, plus a 1.02-pound bundle of methamphetamine valued at roughly $1,000, according to San Diego Sector Chief Patrol Agent Justin De La Torre.
The driver, the vehicle and the seized narcotics were transferred to the Border Patrol station for further investigation and legal processing. The agency said highway interdiction remains a key tool for keeping drugs out of inland communities.
