California Mobilizes 112 Community Organizations to Take On the Overdose Crisis

Sunday, November 1, 2026 · California · GSM News

The Governor's Office announced on October 30 that California is partnering with 112 community organizations across the state to help prevent opioid and stimulant use, reduce overdose risk, and connect people to treatment and recovery services.

State officials said community organizations are rooted in the neighborhoods they serve and know local needs best, and that the partnership brings prevention education, harm-reduction services and treatment referrals closer to home.

The mobilization forms part of California's wider response to the overdose crisis, which includes expanding access to reversal medications such as naloxone, supporting treatment and recovery capacity, and funding local outreach and referral work.
