Southland Gas Prices Keep Falling as Winter-Blend Fuel Takes Over on November 1

Sunday, November 1, 2026 · California · GSM News

According to AAA and Oil Price Information Service figures, the average price of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County fell 1.3 cents on October 31 to $5.983 a gallon, its 29th drop in 30 days and down 45.6 cents over the month. Orange County's average fell for a 30th straight day to $5.864, down 54.1 cents in a month.

Kandace Redd, senior public affairs specialist at the Automobile Club of Southern California, said California prices have dropped by more than 40 cents in the past month. Governor Newsom's September 28 announcement allowing cheaper winter-blend gasoline to be sold immediately, instead of the customary November 1 switch, helped start the streak.

From November 1, winter-blend fuel is in its regular season. Prices remain more than a dollar above a year ago, and drivers are advised that refinery supply and global markets will drive what comes next.
