The Houston Rockets beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 119-98 at Toyota Center on October 31 to improve to 6-1. Jabari Smith Jr. led Houston with 30 points, nine rebounds and five assists, hitting six of 12 three-pointers. Marcus Smart, starting in place of the resting Fred VanVleet, added 24 points on seven-of-10 shooting from deep. Alperen Sengun had 16 points and nine rebounds, and Kevin Durant scored 14.

Houston made 18 of 41 three-pointers and led by as many as 27, winning the quarters 35-26, 27-25, 30-24 and 27-23. It was a quick response after the Rockets' first loss of the season, at Dallas on October 30.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 26 for Oklahoma City, but the Thunder were depleted: Jalen Williams and Cason Wallace were out, and Chet Holmgren is expected to miss eight to ten weeks with a right knee injury. After a 4-0 start, the Thunder have lost two straight and stand at 4-2.
