Greece Extends Fuel Subsidies to November 15 and Claws Back €323 Million in Unfinished Investment Grants

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced in his weekly review on November 1 that fuel subsidies will be extended to November 15: €0.20 per litre for heating oil, €0.15 for diesel and €0.10 for petrol.
The review disclosed that the government has clawed back €323 million in investment grants that were paid out but never completed, with 141 projects approved under the 2016 development law struck off.
On housing, the "Renovate Housing" programme has opened for applications, covering 70 to 95 percent of costs up to €36,000, plus up to €2,500 toward service fees. Applications are submitted via the anakainisi.tee.gov.gr website until January 11, 2027.
Other items covered in the review include the Hellenic Navy's second FDI-type frigate, Nearchos, entering service; a switch of the farmers' diesel discount to a direct reduction at the pump through the myDiesel app; and an expansion of marine protection in the Ionian Sea to 22 Natura 2000 sites.
Mitsotakis's weekly review is his government's regular format for reporting policy progress; this edition focused on three household issues: energy prices, home renovation and investment discipline.
