Bruins Defenseman Zadorov Fined $5,000 for Roughing

Sunday, November 1, 2026 · Sports · GSM News

On the morning of November 1, the NHL's Department of Player Safety announced that Boston Bruins defenseman Nikita Zadorov has been fined $5,000 — the maximum allowed under the collective bargaining agreement — for roughing in a game against the Chicago Blackhawks. The game in question was Game No. 217 of the league season, played in Boston on October 31, which the Bruins won 5–4 in overtime over the Blackhawks.

According to the league, the incident occurred at 18:34 of the second period: after Blackhawks defenseman Alex Vlasic tangled with Bruins forward Casey Mittelstadt, Zadorov stepped in, pulled Vlasic away, and punched him as he fell to the ice. Zadorov had already received two minor penalties for roughing and a 10-minute misconduct on the play during the game; after review, the league added the fine. The $5,000 fine was imposed under the collective bargaining agreement, and no suspension was added.
