Mazda Toyota's Huntsville Plant Builds Its 1 Millionth Vehicle, Donates $120,000 to Education

Sunday, November 1, 2026 · States · GSM News

On November 1, Mazda Toyota Manufacturing in Huntsville, Madison County, Alabama, announced that it has produced its 1 millionth vehicle. The milestone comes only about five years after the first vehicle rolled off the line. The plant employs about 4,500 people and builds two compact crossovers, the Mazda CX-50 and the Toyota Corolla Cross.

Marking the milestone, the company donated $120,000 to education organizations in the Huntsville area to support workforce training. Recipients include Calhoun Community College, Kids to Love, Morgan County Schools and the Alabama Automotive Manufacturers Association.

The joint-venture plant's ramp-up is regarded as a success story for U.S.-based manufacturing, and the donation ties the production milestone directly to local talent development. For Huntsville, the auto industry has become an important pillar of local jobs and education partnerships, and the targeted funding will support programs aligned with the plant's hiring needs. The Mazda-Toyota joint venture concentrates both automakers' capacity at a single site, sharing construction costs and giving the local supply chain and technical education system a stable partner — the reason the plant emphasizes workforce training.
