Oklahoma Sweepstakes Casino Ban Takes Effect as Platforms Exit

Sunday, November 1, 2026 · States · GSM News

On November 1, Oklahoma's ban on online sweepstakes casinos officially took effect, and several operators had already withdrawn from the state market ahead of it. Under Senate Bill 1589, passed in May, operating or supplying online sweepstakes casinos in the state is a felony; the bill became law after the legislature overrode Gov. Kevin Stitt's veto.

The ban targets online casino-style games using a dual-currency model, in which free or purchased virtual currency can be redeemed for cash or prizes; tribal gaming governed by the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act is not covered. Exit schedules varied by platform: Ace Casino withdrew completely on October 6; Baba Casino ended sweepstakes games and redemptions on October 21; High 5 Casino stopped redemptions after October 29; and several platforms operated by B-Two stopped serving the state from November 1.

Some platforms will keep only gold-coin games with no cash value, converting to purely free social games. Oklahoma becomes the third state in 2026, after Tennessee and Indiana, to put such a ban into effect.
