Delaware County, Pennsylvania Votes Nov. 3 on $120 Million Conservation Referendum

On November 1, a public statement of support was issued for a referendum that Delaware County, Pennsylvania, will vote on November 3, concerning water quality and the protection of natural areas and wildlife habitat, urging voters to vote yes. If approved, the measure would authorize the county to borrow up to $120 million over time to protect water quality, natural areas, wildlife habitat, parks, trails and open space across the county, without requiring the full amount to be borrowed immediately.
Supporters said Delaware County's remaining woodlands, wetlands, streams and other natural areas benefit every resident, and that protecting clean water and natural spaces will serve future generations. A yes vote would also fund the restoration and expansion of the county's successful greenway grant program, which has long supported local parks and trails.
Delaware County voters will decide the referendum on Election Day, November 3, on the same ballot as the governor's race, state legislative contests and U.S. House races. Supporters said the borrowing would be used in phases, directed to the watersheds and natural areas most in need of protection.
