Sunday, November 1, 2026 · States · GSM News

On November 1, Rutland High School in Rutland, Rutland County, Vermont, hosted the Division I high school soccer championship finals, with the girls' and boys' finals played the same day at the same venue — only the second time in two decades that the finals have not been held in Chittenden County. The girls' final kicked off at 5 p.m., pitting top seed Burr and Burton against second seed Mount Mansfield, both 13–3 in the regular season; the boys' final was set for 7:30 p.m., between third seed Champlain Valley and fifth seed Essex.

The girls' first half was tight: Burr and Burton's Zephyr Bergman struck first, Mount Mansfield's Brooke Koenig equalized, and the halftime score stood at 1–1. The two teams met in the regular season on October 3 in Manchester, a 2–0 Mount Mansfield win. Burr and Burton last reached a final in 2017 and are 4-6-1 all-time in finals; Mount Mansfield last won a title in 2003 and last reached a final in 2022.

On the boys' side, Champlain Valley beat Essex twice in the regular season, both times 1–0. This is Champlain Valley's fourth straight trip to the Division I final; it is 20-15-1 all-time in finals and has won four crowns since 2018. Essex last reached and won a final in 2021. Both games were streamed on the NFHS Network.
