'Heart Signal 6' Couple Hou Zhuocheng and Yang Ruqing Announce Their Breakup Weeks Before Their Planned Marriage Registration

Sunday, November 1, 2026 · Entertainment · GSM News

In the early hours of November 1, Hou Zhuocheng and Yang Ruqing, the couple who met on the Chinese dating show 'Heart Signal 6,' posted simultaneous statements on their social media accounts announcing the end of their nearly three-year relationship. The pair had planned to register their marriage in early October; a romance fans had dubbed the gold standard of reality-show couples has ended just before the wedding.

In her statement, Yang wrote: 'Zhuocheng and I have parted. We both gave each other trust and love with our utmost effort. We talked and adjusted again and again, truly hoping to find a way to resolve our conflicts over personality, pace of life, marriage and family, and future plans. The closer the wedding came, the more those conflicts grew. After careful discussion, we confirmed we cannot continue as a couple. To keep draining each other would be irresponsible to us both, and we do not wish to drag it out. There is no matter of principle behind this split.'

Hou said the two could not reach agreement on core questions of marriage, spousal roles, family responsibility and future life plans, and chose a peaceful separation out of responsibility for each other's lives. He called his three years of love 'a clear conscience' while admitting he 'can no longer give more love.' He closed by asking the public to look after a 'fragile' Yang, and wrote that he hoped people would remember who the 'originator' of an earlier incident was, a line many readers took as a reference to an August controversy over leaked chat records. His replies to teasing commenters later briefly trended.

The two met on 'Heart Signal 6' in 2023 and continued dating after the show. On May 25 this year, Hou proposed by recreating his confession scene from the program; the engagement banquet was set for August 22 and the marriage registration for early October. In August, however, private chat records from three years earlier surfaced and caused an uproar, the banquet was postponed, and Hou said in a livestream that they had not broken up but were in a 'rather fragile stage.' Just over two months later, the split is official.
