Whitecaps Rout Sounders 5-1: Brian White Brace Reaches 100 Club Goals as Vancouver Top the West

Vancouver Whitecaps FC routed Cascadia rivals the Seattle Sounders 5-1 at BC Place in Vancouver, Canada, on November 1 to close the MLS regular season as the Western Conference's top seed.
Brian White headed in a Bruno Caicedo cross in the 1st minute for a lightning start. Captain Ryan Gauld made it 2-0 in the 9th minute with a left-footed finish, and Mathías Laborda headed home a Gauld cross at the far post in the 43rd minute for a 3-0 halftime lead.
White struck again in the 53rd minute, converting another Caicedo assist for his 20th league goal of the season and his 100th goal for the Whitecaps across all competitions, the first player to reach that mark in the club's MLS era.
Jordan Morris pulled one back for Seattle in the 62nd minute, his 94th career goal in all competitions, a club record. Aleksa Cvetkovic added Vancouver's fifth late on to complete the scoring.
The Whitecaps finish 18-8-7 with 61 points, having clinched the West's No. 1 seed a day earlier. The Sounders end the day ninth in the West at 11-12-10 with 43 points, still fighting for a playoff berth. The win also completed a Cascadia Cup sweep for Vancouver over its regional rivals.
