Paris Hilton Defends Family's Beauty and the Beast Halloween Costumes: Says Daughter Chose to Be Chip

Sunday, November 1, 2026 · Culture & Entertainment · GSM News

American socialite and entrepreneur Paris Hilton posted her family's Halloween costumes on Instagram on October 26: she dressed as Belle from Disney's Beauty and the Beast, her husband Carter Reum as the Beast, their 3-year-old son Phoenix as Lumière the candelabra, and their 2-year-old daughter London as Chip the teacup. The photos drew criticism from commenters who said she kept the princess role for herself and cast her daughter as a side character. Hilton first responded in the comments and then posted again on October 30, stressing that the teacup costume was her daughter's own choice.

Hilton captioned the photos: "My life is a fairytale, and the magic never ends." According to People, her yellow princess gown was custom-made by designer Danyul Brown. Critics wrote: "Why not let your daughter be Belle? Attention has to be on her! Poor little girl," and suggested the kids should have been the stars while the adults were "the side dish."

On October 27, Hilton commented under an Instagram video dissecting the costumes: "Beauty and the Beast is one of their favorite movies, and London said she wanted to dress up as Chip. She said it was her favorite character in the movie." On October 30, she shared a fan video defending her and posted again: "When your daughter's favorite character from Beauty and the Beast is Chip, you let her be Chip! My little princess knows exactly what she wants!"

Many users also defended her: parents noted that plenty of little girls ignore the princesses and obsess over side characters, and that London looked delighted in the photos. On October 29, Hilton posted another family costume set, themed on The Addams Family.
