Arizona Governor Declares Statewide Emergency After Weekend Storms and Flash Flooding, Unlocking $200,000

Monday, November 2, 2026 · States · GSM News

The Office of the Governor of Arizona, in Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona, announced on Monday, November 2, that Governor Katie Hobbs had declared a statewide state of emergency in response to the severe thunderstorms and flash flooding that struck the state over the weekend.

The declaration immediately unlocks $200,000 in emergency funding and activates the state's Emergency Response and Recovery Plan. The governor authorized the Division of Emergency Management (DEMA) to coordinate the statewide response, and the State Emergency Operations Center remains activated to support county and local agencies.

It is Arizona's second weather-related emergency declaration in a week: on October 30, the state declared an emergency for extreme weather in northeastern Navajo County, also releasing $200,000. The new declaration extends the response statewide.
