Shnaider Outlasts Fernandez in Three Sets to Win Tokyo Title, Her Sixth Straight Final Victory

Diana Shnaider defeated Leylah Fernandez 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 on November 1 to win the Toray Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo, in a final lasting two hours and 18 minutes. The No. 3 seed led 6-4, 4-0 before Fernandez won seven of the next eight games to force a deciding set.
Shnaider saved three break points early in the third set, then swept the closing games to seal the title.
It is Shnaider's first title of 2026, the sixth of her career and her third at WTA 500 level, and she has now won six consecutive finals. Fernandez was playing her second straight final, having lost to Elena Rybakina in Ningbo the previous week.
