Las Vegas Plans Nearly $6 Million Campaign to Win Back Canadian Tourists After 2025 Visitor Drop

Sunday, November 1, 2026 · Travel · GSM News

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority in Las Vegas, Clark County, Nevada, will invest nearly $6 million over the next five years in a marketing campaign to win back Canadian tourists, it was reported on November 1. The authority had already set aside $500,000 for market research; the nearly $6 million will fund execution once the research is complete.

Figures from Harry Reid International Airport show 53 million passengers in 2025, down 6% year over year, with Canadian passengers down 25%, while Las Vegas visitation overall fell 7.5% in 2025. Canada was once the city's second-largest international market and its largest intercontinental market: in 2024 about 1.5 million Canadian visitors spent $1.4 billion, roughly 3% of local tourism-related spending.

The drop in Canadian travel is tied to political tensions and boycott sentiment between the two countries. Earlier this year, Canadian airlines had cut seat capacity on Las Vegas routes by about 30%, and the city saw its first overall tourism decline since the post-pandemic recovery in 2025.
