Venture Global's Plaquemines LNG Phase 1 Enters Commercial Operations, First Cargo Delivered to Shell

Louisiana LNG exporter Venture Global announced on November 1 that Phase 1 of its Plaquemines export plant has completed commissioning and entered commercial operations, beginning deliveries to customers under long-term sales contracts.
Shell is the first customer to receive Plaquemines LNG under a long-term contract: the LNG carrier Malaga Knutsen, loaded with the first commercial cargo, departed at 3:26 a.m. on November 1. Venture Global said Phase 1 completed commissioning on October 31, about 22 months after the plant produced its first LNG.
Besides Shell, Phase 1 long-term customers include Poland's Orlen, Sinopec, China National Offshore Oil Corporation's gas and power group and EDF, which are expected to take deliveries in turn under their long-term contracts. Venture Global CEO Mike Sabel said bringing Phase 1 into commercial operations over 53 months was "a testament to our team's relentless dedication," and that the plant will further lift LNG export capacity on the U.S. Gulf Coast.
