The U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Nebraska announced on November 2, 2026, that Samuel Rosberg, 25, of Creighton, Nebraska, was sentenced on October 29 in federal court in Lincoln, Nebraska, to a total of 248 months in prison for one count of conspiracy to distribute controlled substances and one count of using, carrying or possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, to be followed by five years of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.

According to prosecutors, Rosberg, along with co-defendant Drake Baller and others, conspired to distribute a variety of controlled substances in Nebraska and across the country, including at least 71 grams of actual methamphetamine, at least one kilogram of methamphetamine mixture, at least five kilograms of cocaine, pounds of marijuana and THC products, and psilocybin mushrooms. Rosberg made trips outside Nebraska to make purchases and traveled throughout the state to supply customers; Baller joined him on some trips and received methamphetamine, cocaine and THC products from Rosberg to sell. In March 2025, law enforcement monitored two controlled buys from Baller in Kearney.

On June 3, 2025, officers executed a search warrant at Rosberg's home and seized more than 20 firearms, including revolvers, pistols, shotguns and rifles, along with firearm accessories and ammunition.

United States Attorney Lesley A. Woods said drug dealers too often protect their illegal trade with illegal firearms, and that nearly more than 20 firearms were possessed by a dangerous drug dealer in this case; she called the outcome a commendable result by the TRIDENT and CODE Task Forces in getting drugs, guns and a drug trafficker out of the community. Baller has pleaded guilty to the conspiracy and firearm counts and is scheduled for sentencing on December 3, 2026, before U.S. District Judge Susan M. Bazis, who imposed Rosberg's sentence. The case was investigated by the TRIDENT and CODE Task Forces, whose members include the North Platte Police Department, the Lexington Police Department, the Dawson County Sheriff's Office, the Ogallala Police Department, the Nebraska State Patrol, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Homeland Security Investigations.
