Large-Scale Methamphetamine Distributor Sentenced to 28 Years: About 25 Kilograms Found in a Suitcase

Justavius K. Williams, 25, of Bastrop, a city in Morehouse Parish, Louisiana, was sentenced by Chief U.S. District Judge Terry A. Doughty to 336 months (28 years) in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release, for conspiracy to possess a controlled substance with intent to distribute and possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, U.S. Attorney Zachary A. Keller announced. Williams pleaded guilty on July 10, 2026; the sentence was imposed on October 21, 2026.
According to court documents, between May 16, 2025, and October 9, 2025, Williams participated in a methamphetamine trafficking organization. Investigators executed a wiretap on one of his co-conspirators' phones and intercepted calls and messages in which Williams discussed acquiring and distributing large quantities of methamphetamine.
On October 1, 2025, communications revealed that his co-conspirators were arranging the pickup of a large shipment of methamphetamine from Texas. Williams traveled to Garland, Texas, where agents observed him and a co-conspirator load a bright orange suitcase into a vehicle. After the vehicle returned to Louisiana, state police attempted a traffic stop; Williams fled, leading troopers on a brief pursuit before he and the co-conspirator were caught and arrested. A search of the vehicle revealed approximately 25 kilograms of methamphetamine in the suitcase.
Roughly a week later, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents executed a search warrant at a local address where Williams was found with the same co-conspirator. Inside the residence, agents recovered seven firearms along with various quantities of ecstasy pills, methamphetamine, marijuana, and other controlled substances. A cook lab trailer behind the residence contained 20,000 methamphetamine pills and more than three kilograms of additional powder methamphetamine.
The case was investigated by the DEA, Louisiana State Police, and Monroe Metro Narcotics, and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney J. Aaron Crawford, under Case Number 3:25-cr-299. (Source: U.S. Department of Justice)
