Arbor Day Hawai'i 2026 Arrives November 6: Events Across Five Islands All Month, With Free Tree Giveaways

The Hawai'i Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR), in Honolulu, Hawai'i, announced on November 2 that Arbor Day Hawai'i 2026 will be celebrated on Friday, November 6, with events running throughout November on Hawai'i Island, Maui, Moloka'i, O'ahu and Kaua'i.
The events are coordinated by the Kaulunani Urban and Community Forestry Program of DLNR's Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW), and include free tree adoptions, community plantings and tree care instruction. Highlights include a native tree giveaway hosted by Terraformation in Kailua-Kona on November 6; the Maui Nui Botanical Garden's 23rd Annual Arbor Day Garden Expo and Tree Giveaway on November 7; a canoe plant growing and care workshop hosted by the Malama Learning Center in Nanakuli, O'ahu, on November 7; and an Arbor Day event hosted by the Kaua'i Landscape Industry Council at Kukui Grove Center, Kaua'i, also on November 7, with free tree giveaways.
"Arbor Day Hawai'i is about more than planting trees. It is an opportunity to strengthen connections between people and place," said Dr. Heather McMillen, DOFAW's urban and community forester. DLNR notes that native Hawaiian and Polynesian-introduced trees such as kou, milo, 'ulu and niu have sustained the people, traditions and landscapes of Hawai'i for generations.
