UNITED STATES, November 1 — With two days to go before Election Day in the midterm elections on November 3, the number of Americans who have voted early has surpassed 54 million. Data from the University of Florida's Election Lab showed that, as of Sunday, November 1, more than 54 million Americans had cast ballots early. By comparison, early voting in the 2022 midterm elections totaled 45.9 million ballots. That means this year's early vote is already about 8 million higher (about 8.1 million) than the entire early-voting total of the previous midterm cycle, with Election Day still to come.

According to the Election Lab's figures, roughly 32.5 million voters cast ballots in person during early voting in this cycle, while more than 21.5 million ballots were returned by mail. The full 2022 early vote broke down as 18.7 million in person and 27.2 million by mail, for a total of 45.9 million; mail-ballot returns for this year are still being tallied as of the latest update.

The Election Lab also published observations on in-person voting in Dallas County, Boston and Seattle, and on the composition of the early electorate in several states. State-by-state early-voting figures continue to be updated.
