Los Angeles County DPSS to Illuminate Headquarters Green for Veterans, With Ceremony Nov. 5

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services (DPSS), in Los Angeles County, California, announced on November 2 that it will join the fourth annual Operation Green Light for Veterans, illuminating its headquarters green from November 4 to 11, 2026, in the run-up to Veterans Day. A lighting ceremony is set for Thursday, November 5, at 4:30 p.m. at the entrance of the Crossroads Campus main building in the City of Industry.
Operation Green Light, led by the National Association of Counties (NACo), raises awareness of the unique challenges many veterans face when transitioning to civilian life. In 2025, more than 400 counties across 44 states participated. Los Angeles County is home to approximately 250,000 veterans, many of whom rely on programs such as food assistance, health coverage and other essential safety net services. DPSS encourages county residents, businesses and community organizations to change one light to a green bulb as a symbolic show of support and to help connect veterans and their families with resources.
At the ceremony, DPSS will pay tribute to its own employee veterans and lead a moment of silence for service members who gave their lives in service. Attendees will include DPSS Director Dr. Jackie Contreras, Joaquin Enriquez of the county Department of Military and Veterans Affairs' Veteran Peer Access Network (VPAN), and Dr. Rhonda Higgins of the Department of Mental Health's Veteran and Military Family Services program. More than 150 DPSS employees are expected, including 20 veterans.
The ceremony will be held at 12860 Crossroads Parkway South, City of Industry, CA 91746, with parking available in lots next to the ceremony location.
