Monday, November 2, 2026 · California · GSM News

The City of Santa Monica, in Los Angeles County, California, has published its latest city briefing. On Election Day, November 3, vote centers will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., and ballot drop boxes close at 8 p.m.; residents can find locations and live wait times through the Los Angeles County vote center locator. The city's Big Blue Bus will offer free rides to the polls on Election Day.

For Veterans Day, the city will join the U.S. Army for a ceremony on November 11 at Beach Parking Lot 4, between Santa Monica Beach and Crescent Bay Park - a new location this year. On the holiday calendar, the Swiss Winter Village, a European-inspired market with handcrafted gifts, seasonal food and drinks and live entertainment, comes to the Santa Monica Pier from November 18 to January 3; the Pier's historic sign is in Las Vegas for refurbishment and safekeeping throughout the Pier Bridge Replacement Project.

On city services, Public Works teams have cleaned nearly 600 catch basins in recent weeks and kept more than six tons of trash and debris from flowing into the ocean, and the City Council has adopted a resolution proclaiming a local emergency for the El Nino winter season. The city also announced the recipients of its Small Business Relief Microgrant program, with 20 local businesses set to receive $5,000 each.
