Milei Declares in Buenos Aires: Whoever Messes With Israel Messes With the Entire West
Buenos Aires — Argentine President Javier Milei declared at a "Night of Celebration for Israel" in Buenos Aires on the evening of November 2 that "whoever messes with Israel messes with the entire West," reaffirming that Argentina has deliberately sided with the United States and Israel. He received a Gratitude Award at the event, held at the Visión de Futuro church.
"We do not defend Israel because of some personal whim of the president," Milei said. "We defend Israel because today it is the bastion of our values in the world against those who want to destroy us." He said those values are rooted in the Judeo-Christian foundations of the West — life, liberty and property — and that Argentina would "not rest for a single second" in protecting that civilizational heritage. Citing 1 Maccabees, he added that victory in battle does not depend on the number of soldiers, but on the strength that comes from heaven.
Milei congratulated Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the results of Israel's recent election, saying Israel needs strong leadership amid a global resurgence of antisemitism. He attacked those who justify terrorism and promote a totalitarian state, saying they are destroying democratic values.
Since taking office, Milei has shifted Argentina's foreign policy toward Israel and the United States. Earlier that day he met education advisers and U.S. antisemitism envoy Yehuda Kaploun. Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno has confirmed that Pope Leo XIV will visit Argentina on November 8 and that Milei will host a state reception for him.
