Minnesota Ranked Third-Best State for Jobs in the Nation: Fourth for Economic Environment

Tuesday, November 3, 2026 · States · GSM News

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, in his office's October 31 weekly briefing, announced that a new WalletHub ranking places Minnesota third among the best states for jobs in the nation, ranking fourth for economic environment and sixth for job market.

Other placements cited in the briefing include the third-highest median household income after cost-of-living adjustment and the eleventh-highest average monthly starting salary. Minnesota also ranked seventh among states for working mothers and fifth for working fathers.

The governor's office paired the ranking with cumulative figures since 2019: about 69,000 jobs created, more than 35,000 new businesses formed, and average weekly wages up about 30%. WalletHub's ranking scores states on job market and economic environment measures of employment attractiveness.
