North Carolina Governor Joins NC A&T's Centennial Homecoming: About 200,000 Visitors and Up to $80 Million in Economic Impact

North Carolina Governor Josh Stein attended the centennial homecoming celebration at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NC A&T) in Greensboro, Guilford County, taking in the homecoming football game on campus. Stein had earlier proclaimed October 31, 2026 as the day recognizing the 100th anniversary of the 'Greatest Homecoming on Earth.'
NC A&T's homecoming, billed by the university as the Greatest Homecoming on Earth, marked its 100th edition this year. According to the governor's office, the celebration was expected to draw about 200,000 visitors and generate up to $80 million in economic impact for the area. Chancellor James R. Martin II joined the governor at the events.
North Carolina has more four-year historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) than any other state and the largest HBCU enrollment in the nation. The governor's office said the state budget enacted in July invests about $480 million across the state's five public HBCUs for campus facilities and academic programs.
