Tennessee Governor Appoints Christopher Hansen as Interim Commissioner of Correction: Effective Immediately

Tennessee Governor Bill Lee announced on October 30 the appointment of Christopher Hansen as interim commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC), effective immediately. Hansen succeeds Frank Strada, who resigned in October, at the agency that runs the state's prisons and community supervision system.
Hansen will also continue as the department's assistant commissioner of community supervision, overseeing probation and parole operations with about 1,100 employees. He joined TDOC in 2023 after serving as chief probation officer of Solano County, California, and as chief U.S. probation officer for the District of Nevada.
TDOC is Tennessee's adult corrections agency, operating the state's prisons and supervising the tens of thousands of people on probation and parole. The governor's office said the interim appointment keeps the department running while a permanent successor is identified.
