Padres Give Morejon a $23.15 Million Qualifying Offer; Miller Named a Reliever of the Year Finalist

Tuesday, November 3, 2026 · Sports · GSM News

The San Diego Padres made a series of roster decisions on November 2 as they plan for the new season. The Padres are based in San Diego, San Diego County, California. According to the club, the Padres have tendered All-Star left-hander Adrian Morejon a one-year qualifying offer worth $23.15 million; he has until November 17 to decide whether to accept it.

Morejon, 27, has developed over the past three seasons into one of the league's most dominant bullpen arms, and whether the offer keeps him in San Diego is a focus for local fans. The Padres also made a protective move, adding a 23-year-old left-handed pitcher to the 40-man roster to keep him from being taken in the Rule 5 draft, despite an injury-riddled 2026 season for the young pitcher.

Good news also came from bullpen anchor Mason Miller, who was named a finalist for the National League Reliever of the Year award after leading the league with 38 saves and 57 games finished, alongside a 1.67 ERA. Around the offer deadline, the Padres will continue to settle their bullpen and rotation as they build toward a return to the playoffs next year.
