Erie Insurance President Steps Down Early, Bolash Named Interim CEO

Tuesday, November 3, 2026 · States · GSM News

Erie, Erie County, Pennsylvania — Erie Insurance announced on November 3 that President and CEO Tim NeCastro has stepped down early, and that its board has appointed Executive Vice President, Secretary and General Counsel Brian Bolash as interim president and CEO. NeCastro had announced in February that he would retire at the end of the year; the company statement said he decided for personal reasons to conclude his tenure earlier than planned.

NeCastro joined Erie Insurance in 1996 and held senior roles in internal audit, finance, product and policy services and regional operations before becoming president and CEO in 2016. The board said its CEO selection committee will continue the search for a permanent successor, with Bolash leading the company in the interim.

Headquartered in Erie, Pennsylvania, Erie Insurance is one of the major U.S. property and casualty insurers. The leadership change comes as the company closes out its year, and markets are watching who the next CEO will be and the company's direction for next year. The company gave no further detail on NeCastro's early departure beyond thanking him for his years of service.
