Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah — The University of Utah men's basketball team staged a big comeback at the Jon M. Huntsman Center on the evening of November 2, beating Long Beach State 66-63 for its first win of the season. Utah trailed by 17 points early in the second half but tightened its defense, cut down on turnovers and steadily raised its offensive efficiency to close the gap.

Trey Campbell finished with 20 points, eight assists and six rebounds and was the key to the comeback, steadying the home team with his playmaking and scoring at crucial moments. For Long Beach State, McCaden Adams scored 21 points and Yohann Sissoko 15, but the team went 1-for-11 over the final five and a half minutes and missed its chance to force overtime.

Utah opens at 1-0 and next hosts Towson on November 5. The coaching staff said the comeback showed the team's resilience and builds confidence for a home-heavy non-conference schedule ahead.
