Arkansas Election Day: Gov. Sanders Seeks Re-election as Voters Decide Four Statewide Ballot Issues

Tuesday, November 3, 2026 · States · GSM News

Arkansas polls were open from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on November 3, and voters had to cast ballots at their assigned polling places. Republican Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders sought re-election against Democrat Frederick Love and Libertarian Colt Shelby. All four U.S. House seats were also on the ballot, including the 2nd District, where Rep. French Hill faced Democrat Chris Jones. Voters decided four statewide ballot issues: Issue 1 defines who is qualified to vote in Arkansas; Issue 2 concerns the right to keep and bear arms; Issue 3 would let the legislature use public funds for projects, loans, grants and economic development districts; and Issue 4 would authorize up to $500 million in water, waste-disposal and pollution-control bonds. Early voting ran from October 19 to 5 p.m. on November 2, and the Secretary of State urged voters to check their registration, polling place and sample ballot on the Voter View site. Counties and cities also had local questions such as sales taxes and council election methods, and any required local runoffs are set for December 1.
