The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Louisiana announced that three men from Shreveport and Bossier City, Louisiana, have been sentenced in federal court to between 20 and 180 months in prison for drug trafficking and firearms crimes. U.S. Attorney Zachary A. Keller announced the sentences.

Marvaeya M. Anderson, 30, of Shreveport, was sentenced on October 29, 2026, by U.S. District Judge S. Maurice Hicks to 180 months in prison, followed by four years of supervised release, for possessing a controlled substance with intent to distribute and for possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. He pleaded guilty on July 20, 2026. According to court documents, on October 12, 2025, a Shreveport Police Department patrol officer attempted a traffic stop on a black Dodge Challenger; the vehicle fled at high speed through a residential area and crashed, and Anderson, the passenger, fled on foot across a field, over a fence and across all lanes of I-20 before he was apprehended. A search of the vehicle found a plastic grocery bag containing approximately 196 grams of methamphetamine, 20.9 grams of crack cocaine, a digital scale, a handgun and two cell phones. Anderson is a previously convicted felon prohibited from possessing a firearm.

Kentravious C. Kennedy, 20, of Shreveport, was sentenced on October 26 to 46 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for possession of a firearm or ammunition by a convicted felon; he pleaded guilty on May 20, 2026. On November 2, 2025, officers responding to a shooting at a local intersection identified Kennedy as a suspect and, with consent, searched his mother's residence, finding a DPMS Panther Arms A-15 rifle, an ISSC M22 pistol, multiple loaded magazines and ammunition; the rifle held a sixty-round magazine, and photos on Kennedy's social media accounts showed him posing with firearms matching those recovered.

Jayden Jamond Smith, 20, of Bossier City, was sentenced on October 26 to 20 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for illegal possession of a machinegun; he pleaded guilty on June 30, 2026. On February 8, 2025, Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office deputies responded to reports of machinegun fire and traced an orange Dodge Charger to Smith, who had possessed a Glock equipped with a machinegun conversion device (switch) and fired several automatic rounds into wooded areas between houses; video on a fellow student's phone showed Smith firing the weapon in automatic mode, along with text messages discussing its performance.

All three cases were investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) together with the Shreveport Police Department or the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office, and were prosecuted as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods. Anderson's case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Allison C. Foster; the Kennedy and Smith cases were prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert Moody.
