The York County Community Foundation (YCCF) in York, York County, Pennsylvania, announced on November 3 that it is investing $162,762 in the county through sixteen grants to local nonprofits. The grants, made possible by donors who established field-of-interest funds at the foundation, will open doors to new opportunities for students and families, expand access to healthcare and essential services, strengthen support for women rebuilding their lives, help small businesses and downtowns thrive, advance youth development, and enhance the beauty and vitality of local communities.

The largest single grant went to emergency services: First Capital Community Transport Partners received $32,354.73 to replace stair chairs used to transport individuals from residences and buildings where stretchers cannot be used, improving patient and EMS personnel safety. Main Street Hanover, Inc. received $20,000 for its Downtown Facade Grant program, which reimburses commercial property owners and small businesses for exterior building improvements, and the New Birth of Freedom Council of the Boy Scouts of America received $20,000 for its York City urban scouting program and year-round after-school youth development.

Health and education grants included $16,000 to the YMCA of the Roses for diabetes education videos and a new A1c machine and testing supplies; $10,000 to the Spring Grove Area Historical Preservation Society for a hands-on program teaching students the history of papermaking; $10,000 to the City of York for beautification landscaping at Continental Square; and two grants to York College of Pennsylvania totaling $14,481, for drone education and workforce outreach and for a five-week super intelligence (SI) applications course for nonprofit leaders.

Other grants included $8,800 to My Choice 2 Change for a women's recovery residence; $7,500 to Junior Achievement of South Central PA for financial literacy and work readiness programs; $6,500 to Parkinson's Cure Research Funding for an educational forum; $5,000 to York Day Early Learning for a preschool robotics program; $4,850 to The Program, "It's About Change," for justice-involved women returning to York County; $4,000 to the Mid-Atlantic Mothers' Milk Bank to open an additional depot in York County; $2,400 to New Hope Ministries for its new Spring Grove location; and $876 to the Northeast Neighborhood Association for weekly yoga classes with a Spanish translator.

"Every donor has a story and a cause that matters deeply to them. These grants bring those passions to life in ways that make a real difference for our community," said Natalee Gunderson, YCCF president and CEO. "We are honored to steward these charitable funds and connect donor intentions with the needs and opportunities of our community." (Source: York County Community Foundation)
