Colorado Governor Election: AP Projects Phil Weiser Wins

Tuesday, November 3, 2026 · States · GSM News

The Associated Press projected on the evening of November 3 that Democratic candidate Phil Weiser has won the Colorado governor's race, defeating Republican Victor Marx to become governor of Colorado.

When the AP made the call, 448 of Colorado's 4,230 precincts had reported, or 10.59%, with an estimated 10.6% of the total vote counted. Weiser had 212,231 votes and Marx 49,207; none of the other five candidates exceeded 5,200 votes. Counting is continuing; the figures are unofficial and final results are subject to certification by state election officials.

Weiser currently serves as Colorado's attorney general. This year's Colorado governor's race was an open-seat contest; incumbent Governor Jared Polis was not among the candidates.

The governor's race was held statewide on the same day as the federal Senate and House elections, with Denver as the state capital.
